Dec. 20th, 2006 08:32 pmI picked up a copy of this from the bar-goon table at Chapters for the (white elephant-ish) gift exchange at work. I can't wait for the reaction. (I'm hoping for horrified fascination).
Of course, I farted around at the bookstore for so long (and then waited in line for so long, OY) that by the time I got home and had dinner I no longer felt even remotely like figuring out something for the potluck. To my everlasting shame, I might have to fall back on the Family Bucket o' Dirty Bird. (Or, come to think of it, some hommous and baba ghannouj...heeeyyyyyy.....
Yesterday in the middle of a conversation the Sprout said "Mommy, you're right and Daddy's WRONG." We began to explain that it really isn't appropriate for her to take sides (I pointed out that this was especially the case when it was not in my favour) and she said, "but Mommy's better at everything, so she's always right!"
I pointed out that while Mommy was indeed a better cook, artist, piano player, gardener, gift wrapper, clothes shopper, and organizer than me, I did deserve SOME credit for SOME skills...and while I paused to figure out what these might be, Sprout brightened and said "Yeah, you're a really good booker-reader, daddy!!"
Could be worse, I guess.
