A minor superdad feat
Dec. 18th, 2006 03:31 pmIt needs to be said, up front, that I still do not hold a candle to the SuperMom that is Ms.'v, but:
I took the kids to the Farmer's Market this weekend and no one got lost or injured. Trust me when I say this is a substantial feat. (I did leave my package of Mennonite summer sausage on the counter, paid for, and a tiny smiling woman in a bonnet somehow found us in the vast throng about 10minutes later and returned it to me. Luncheon meat providence might just be the best kind). I also got roped into buying the LARGE baba ghannouj to go with my hummous, for $1 off. I can no longer seize the moral high ground when ms.'v drops 30 bucks at the Egyptian stall.
The Dutch guy that sells kroketten, maatjes, and lekkerbekjes (but not, as the large sign points out, french fries by themselves) is selling his business. Hmmm....I tried to get my dad interested but my mom beat me with a broom handle until I shut up.
Special note to
redsash: I had an encounter with Crazy Bread GuyTM. 5 for $5. I can't grasp how he does it. Must be some weird Sweeney Todd scenario. An excellent crumb, though.
Rather than a full on cookie exchange in the office anyone what wanted to make goodies signed up for a day. There's been a gradual upping of the ante, from linzer biscuits to Sex in a Pan (and a brief dip in the growth curve for some serviceable coconut squares provided by yours truly) to a hot butterscotch blondie that was practically a pudding, and served out of a large crock pot with ice cream. Then today, it is biscochitos with cinnamon and a hint of anise, and an industrial sized rental carafe of Mexican Hot Chocolate spiced with vanilla and cinnamon.
In entirely unrelated news, I hope to Og I get some new pants from Santa.
