haardvarkYesterday one of our subs threw his regular "holiday lunch" with beers and pizza and sammiches. I'd been working pretty crazy hours -- we all had been, and everyone was intimating that we weren't coming back to the office and I should start preparing excuses for my family, various enforcement officials, the media etc.
Around 2:00 p.m. I had juuuuuuuust enough beer to have rendered myself utterly useless for the afternoon, and realized that my entire department had abandoned me. Got a lift back to the office and everyone's working away just like any other day. My northern Ontario cubemate with the cast iron liver rolled her eyes at my questioning look and said "Oh, they TALK BIG every year...." So anyway, now I'm that MUCH further behind.
Woke up in the middle of the night with dull pain right under my sternum that antacids wouldn't touch, and spent a festive hour on the intarweb reading about heart attack symptoms. I'm not presenting a single other symptom, though, so I'm assuming for the time being (until I drop dead, one supposes) that I've pulled a muscle in my chest wall.
Company party tonight. I am reliably informed by multiple sources that this event WILL be Full Contact. We shall see. What better way for Ms.'v to meet everyone I work with?
