Nuts, nuts, get 'em.
Jan. 5th, 2009 07:07 amWell. Holiday break was generally calm and relaxed, although I overdid it and my digestion complained a bit, and that fscking report is still hanging over my head...but since I have resolved to make better use of my work hours, this shall no doubt be remedied shortly.
Movie talk: Has anyone out there seen "Shortbus", by the director/writer of Hedwig? All I can say is, I'm glad we weren't watching it with my parents (heck, ANYONE's parents!), and I wish the curtains over the porch door were finished. Putting it another way, this is the first time I've seen a statutory declaration of actor age at the beginning of a rental disc..
Crafty talk: Did a little experiment in bookbinding this weekend, made a notebook out of recycled paper and cardboard, a scrap of cloth, and some wool that had been unraveled from an old holey hiking sock. (Inspired by Instructables, natch). Worked pretty well, but I have some ideas about improving the process. If not for the white glue, the whole thing would have been reclaimed materials...I wonder if I could boil down some potato peelings or sommat?
Peoplewatching talk: out for brekkie (hi, Erica!) yesterday with the girls, and listened to thedorkiest nerdiest conversation ever perpetrated, at the next table. Sample line "We should start measuring stuff in Kelvin, just for fun. Of course, you can't actually get to zero Kelvin. Cause that's when molecular motion like, totally stops. So that's impossible. But you can get to, like, 0.00001 Kelvin. So we could just call that zero, right?"
(Oh, and the dude had a couple of serious misconceptions about fluid mechanics...I was tempted to correct him but it probably would have been rude, esp in front of his date.)
Okay. Report to finish (but I have a plan(?)). Potential new client in London this afternoon. Boiler to troubleshoot in China. Coffee to make. Later, folks.
