the media report
Jan. 26th, 2007 07:53 amWatched "Walk the Line" last night. Not sure why I got it other than it was reported to be well made. Aaaaand, I think it was a well crafted film, to the extent that I am able to judge these things. On the whole, though, I feel like I needn't have bothered. Cash makes one seriously self-involved and unsympathetic character, and the music isn't really anything that resonates with me. Against all expectation, though, Reese Witherspoon _was_ excellent, and I normally have no time for her at all.
mPeeve: the location caption prior to The Proposal Scene said "Ontario, Canada". I know, I know, the audience is American and they don't care, but Jeebus, Ontario's bigger than a whole bunch of States rolled up into a big ol' State Burrito. Would it kill you to narrow it down? (Failing that, how about "Placename, Canada" like you would do for any other country? Placename = London in this case, FYI, but I HAD TO LOOK ON WIKIPEDIA TO FIND THAT OUT)
In other news, one or two folks might be wondering vaguely why I haven't been yammering on about books much lately. Sadly part of this has to do with (1) big shiny new magical TV box, and (2) zip.ca gift membership. Setting that aside, however, I have a 1000 pager on the go, on tape, and a 700 pager in print, and it's a tough slog, friends. At this rate I won't hit a dozen spines by year end...
